The Ann Korologos Gallery welcomes 2017 with the group exhibition Awards & Accolades, featuring the work of twelve acclaimed Western artists. The Gallery will host an artists’ reception on Thursday, January 12, from 5-7 pm, and also participate in ARTB2F (Basalt Second Friday Art Walk) on January 13, from 5-7 pm. The exhibition will remain on view through February 15, 2017.
A premier source for contemporary Western Art in the Aspen area for over 20 years, and a popular destination for local art lovers and tourists, the gallery has a roster of 32 award-winning artists, many from Colorado (Aspen, Carbondale, Denver, Durango, Mancos, Salida). Awards & Accolades will celebrate many of their recent honors.
“The gallery is exceptionally fortunate to represent so many of the very best Western artists working today. This exhibition is a way we can honor them and their outstanding achievements.”
Gallery owner Ann Korologos explains,”The gallery is exceptionally fortunate to represent so many of the very best Western artists working today. This exhibition is a way we can honor them and their outstanding achievements.”
Among them are ten artists whose works will be on view in the January 2017 Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale in Denver, including Dinah K. Worman, selected by Coors exhibition organizers as “Featured Artist.” Gallery artists Terry Gardner, Amy Laugesen, Leon Loughridge, Dean Mitchell, Joel Ostlind, and Dan Young will be showing a diverse array of paintings, ceramic sculpture, wood block prints, watercolors and copperplate etchings.
Additionally, three Ann Korologos Gallery artists have been invited to exhibit at the National Western Club, also a part of the Coors event: painter Andy Taylor and printmakers Paula Kraemer and Sherrie York. Many of these artists have also distinguished themselves by winning other awards in 2016.
The work of Mancos, CO sculptor and painter Veryl Goodnight, inducted into the Cowgirl Hall of Fame in 2016, will also be on view. Veryl’s lively bronzes and oils depict regional wildlife, and more recently, dog sledding.
Rounding out the Gallery’s presentation will be paintings by Peter Campbell of Durango, CO, who won “Best in Show” in the 2015 Aspen Plein Air Festival, and was featured in the festival again in 2016.
Awards & Accolades will be on view at the Ann Korologos Gallery through February 15, 2016. For more information, visit the gallery at 211 Midland Avenue in Historic Downtown Basalt, visit korologosgallery.com, call 970-927-9668 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
