The Ann Korologos Gallery is proud to present their September landscape exhibition, “Out of the West–Landscapes,” featuring the works of twenty-four diverse artists. The exhibition includes a broad spectrum of art influenced by the western landscape, and highlights the work of one of Colorado’s premier landscape painters, and local artist, Dan Young.
Romanticized by the Hudson River School of the nineteenth century and chronicled throughout the expansion of the west, landscapes continue to capture the fascination of art collectors the world over. Once seen as only a backdrop to portraiture painting, artists quickly embraced the challenge of capturing the natural world and landscape painting has held our imaginations ever since.
As a premier gallery of western contemporary art, the Ann Korologos Gallery showcases modern western artists who approach landscape with a variety of strategies and media. Artistic styles range from the Plein Air landscapes of Dan Young and Peter Campbell, to the more impressionistic work of Andy Taylor and Angus Wilson. With media ranging from traditional oils to abstract photography, “Out of the West–Landscapes” will have something for everyone.
“Out of the West–Landscapes” will be on view at the Ann Korologos Gallery September 10 through October 31. The artist’s reception will be held on Friday, September 19, from 5 to 7 pm.
