New work from Dan Namingha

We were thrilled this month to receive four new works by Native American artist Dan Namingha. As we unwrapped the new paintings at the gallery, we were struck by the range of Namingha’s work and the skill with which he blends realism and abstract modernism. Two of the pieces, “Midday Horizon” and “Rising Sun Over Horizon” are beautiful examples of his most graphic and simplified style. Hanging side by side, they connect with one another to become more than the sum of their individual statements.

In contrast to the strong lines and shapes of the “Horizon” paintings, “Fall River” demonstrates the soft, lyrical side of Namingha’s work. There is a dreamy, watery quality to this oil painting, offset by the strong, sharp-edged mountain silhouette in the background.

High-Desert-Light - Dan Namigha

“High Desert Light”
Acrylic on Canvas, 24″ x 48″

Opening the last crate in Dan Namingha’s shipment, we discovered “High Desert Light,” an acrylic with a classic Namingha sky and unique textural elements in the foreground vegetation. This painting duplicates the reality of the low-light glow of the desert, with the abstraction for which Namingha is known and revered.

All four of these paintings are now on view at the gallery. Please stop by and experience them for yourself.
