Dan Young and Dinah Worman have a few things in common: they were both Coors Western Art featured artists (2018 & 2017, respectively), share an awe of Western landscapes, create texture and dimension by using a thick application of oil paint, and they walk the line between abstract and representational. However, their style is very different.
Dinah’s approach is to take an aerial view and flatten out the landscapes of New Mexico, capturing the light in order to define the mountain, while Dan is a more representational plein air painter who explores abstraction and the landscapes of Colorado. Take a look at a selection of their mountain-scapes, and see what differences you see in their style.
