Local artist Dan Young is featured in the Maynard Dixon Country Art Show, taking place August 21-23 in Carmel, Utah. This is the tenth year that Dan has been invited to participate in this event!
“Dixon Country is a great event in a wonderful setting. It is about the spirit of Maynard Dixon that we all enjoy while we are painting in his special place. We get together with artist friends to connect and feed off of each other. I really think Maynard would approve of us gathering in his honor.” – Dan Young
Maynard Dixon is much more than just an art show. It is about bringing together artists, collectors, community, and friends who love art. While deeply connected to Maynard Dixon and his contributions to American art, the focus is on the “art spirit” and intention of Maynard Dixon. His legacy is made more meaningful when it is illuminated by the artists who are living and making art in 2015. Maynard Dixon Country is a also a fundraiser for the Thuderbird Foundation for the Arts, a nonprofit organization that preserves Maynard Dixon’s home and studio. In bringing serious collectors to this event, the event helps the artists on the forefront of American art continue to thrive, and fulfills the mission for historic preservation.
Dan Young will be featured in our upcoming September exhibition, “Out of the West”, on view September 18 – October 9. An artists’ reception will be held on Friday, September 18, from 5 to 7 pm.
