Join us for coffee and a fascinating look at the reduction linocut printmaking process with Salida printmaker Sherrie York. Sherrie joined our gallery’s roster of talented artists in early 2016 and her prints have been a smashing success in the Basalt area among collectors who enjoy works on paper with nature and animal themes.
In addition to being a featured artist in the annual Coors Western Art Exhibit & Sale in Denver (Sherrie is one of the Gallery at the National Western Club Artists), she is a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists and recently received Honorable Mention for ‘It’s April—No Foolin’ in the Richeson75 International Competitions for Birds and Wildlife. She has been invited to and participated in projects of the international Artists for Nature Foundation in Holland and Spain, and has been Artist-in-Residence at Acadia National Park and Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. She is a popular instructor in field sketching and printmaking, especially as a member of the instructional staff at Audubon’s Hog Island Camp in Maine.
The joys and tribulations of being a printmaker come through in her stories of creating editions. Sudden inspirations for new prints, frequent (and frequently hilarious) encounters with Murphy’s Law and all the challenges of mastering the craft will be shared in an informal and informative discussion, complete with a demonstration and Q & A.
