“Mr. President, in these times of challenge and turmoil from abroad, we often either forget or are unaware of the constructive efforts which are underway to promote better understanding among all people. Not guns nor butter, but original works of art are now being used in a combined Government-private interest effort to portray our proud cultural achievements to those of foreign lands..
I can think of no more effective approach to cultural diplomacy than that which the State Department is presently engaged in — the art in Embassies program.”

Ann Korologos Gallery and our artists have proudly participated in the Art in Embassies program since 2006, sending works to Belgium, Lisbon, Ulaanbaatar, Mbabane, Kathmandu, and more. Art in Embassies (AIE) is a program through the U.S. Department of State, which “creates vital cross-cultural dialogue and fosters mutual understanding through the visual arts and dynamic artist exchanges.” Each work selected is on loan to the Embassies for a two-year period, after which they are returned to the artists and galleries. Ann Korologos curated two exhibitions for the U.S. Embassy in Belgium from 2003-2007 during Ambassador Tom Korologos’ tenure as the U.S. Ambassador to Belgium.
A special thanks to our artists who willingly participate in this initiative, lending their works to build cross-cultural connections by exhibiting their art around the globe. Their work, in the words of AIE, allow artists and cultures to “exchange ideas, values, and traditions.” To date, over 20,000 artists have participated in the program in exhibitions across 189 countries. Below, enjoy a selection of works that have recently returned from the Embassy in Kathmandu, Mbabane and Ulaanbaatar.
